May 20, 2020 by Austin McDaniel Can local communities still enact stricter travel protocols than what is in Mandate 018? It is still possible for smaller communities to enact more protective measures, while understanding that Critical Infrastructure and essential government services workers still need to travel. The Governor will continue to work with all Alaska communities that wish to protect their population based on their unique needs. Communities wishing to enact more stringent requirements should reach out to engage in this dialogue. Individual communities may not prohibit or restrict in any manner the following travel: Emergency First Responders (includes fire, ambulatory services, and other similar emergency first responders);Law Enforcement acting within their official duties (this includes federal, state and local law enforcement personnel, as well as corrections personnel);Office of Children’s Services personnel responding to reports of child abuse and neglect and insuring child safety;Essential Governmental Services personnel needed to ensure the continuing operations of government agencies including to provide for the health, safety, and welfare of the public.Residents returning to the resident’s home from outside the Small Community that show no signs or symptoms of COVID-19.
